My focus at Sovereign is working with our portfolio companies to help map out their growth, development and exit strategies. Having been in private equity in a variety of roles since 1995, I've worked with, and sat on the boards of, many companies.
I originally trained as an accountant, having completed my BSc in Polymer Science and Technology at UMIST. I then spent five years in the Corporate Finance departments of Deloitte and Ernst & Young.
Sharing best practice and knowledge, both within the team and with portfolio management, is something we place real focus on.
Before joining the team here, I managed the development of portfolio companies, through to exit, across a range of sectors at ISIS Equity Partners (now Livingbridge). Prior to that I was involved in the MBI/MBO of Environmental Waste Solutions. Having held the positions of FD and then CEO there, I have first-hand experience of the day-to-day operational challenges and considerations that management teams are faced with.
At Sovereign I've been involved with a number of transactions, including the exits. Working closely with the management teams as we prepare the businesses for exit is a really interesting time. They don't just benefit from the experience of one or two individuals, but from the collective experience of the broader Sovereign family.
Married with two children, we love to travel as a family – off the beaten track is definitely my preference.
