Managing Partner

Dominic Dalli

My first client in my role as an auditor with Grant Thornton at the start of my career was a private equity house – I was hooked. I went on to spend several years at Deloitte Corporate Finance before joining Sovereign in 2002. In 2020 I was thrilled to become the firm's Managing Partner.

When I came to Sovereign, my expertise already lay in healthcare, one of our key areas of sector focus. I've led a number of investments in this area at Sovereign including Xendo, City & County Healthcare Group, National Fostering Agency, SENAD, Eden Futures and Nurseplus as well as investments in the business service sector such as Alcumus.

What makes Sovereign stand out is our investment approach. Over the years this has been finely honed and we’ve successfully applied it across many sub-sectors. This, alongside the sheer determination and tenacity of the team, is what sets us apart.

As active investors we work closely with the management teams to deliver the growth strategy – our investment team is often likened by management to having their own in-house M&A team. It's these close working relationships that really make a difference, especially when things don't go precisely to plan.

I am also chair of the Sovereign ESG Collaboration Team. We have been investing in sectors which provide a fundamental social good for over 20 years, so the principles of ESG have always been integral to Sovereign. We firmly believe that sustainable business models lead to better businesses, and in turn, better performance.

I studied French and German and got my BA from the University of Exeter.

I spend a lot of my spare time trying to keep fit enough to keep up with my children. I also enjoy travelling with family and experiencing new cultures.
